Night of the Living Dead Movie Review 2021 | Oye Cinema Club

Night of the Living Dead is a horror movie about some people who are trapped in a house and must fight off zombies. It was released in 1968, making it one of the earliest zombie movies ever made. The film has gained notoriety for its social commentary on violence as well as its graphic scenes so if you’re looking for something light-hearted this might not be the best choice.

Night of the Living Dead stars Judith O’Dea, Duane Jones, Karl Hardman and Marilyn Eastman. Director George A. Romero’s first feature-length film became an instant hit with critics when it debuted at our local theater because he managed to create such a believable world where zombies were just like any other person except they wanted to eat your brains.

Night of the Living Dead Movie Review | Oye Cinema Club

1. The film opens with a man in the Louisiana bayous, who is attacked by an unknown assailant and left for dead

2. A group of people is then shown at a remote desert gas station that has been closed down for the night

3. They try to start their car but it won’t turn on so they decide to explore the place and find out what’s wrong

4. After finding out that there is no phone service, they go back outside where one of them finds a zombie eating another person’s body and shoots him in the head with his revolver

5. As they continue exploring, they find more zombies coming towards them from all directions until finally being killed themselves (viewer discretion advised)

6. The film concludes with two survivors making their way through the woods as zombies close in around them

Here is a video review of the epic film “Night of the Living Dead” by members of our Cinema Club. We hope you enjoy it!

The movie starts with a man, Ben (played by Duane Jones), and his sister on the run from some unknown pursuers. They stop at a house to try to get help but no one is home so they head upstairs for refuge. The camera follows them up the stairs making it clear that this will be an ongoing trend throughout the film, of following our protagonists as they can’t seem to shake off whatever’s chasing after them.

Things become more intense when outside we hear gunshots and screaming in English followed by someone yelling in Spanish then silence. All hell breaks loose as zombies start swarming out of all four corners of the screen!
