Life is Beautiful, a 1997 Italian film directed by Roberto Benigni, tells the story of a Jewish man who uses humor to shield his son from the horrors of war. The movie begins in 1938 when Guido Orefice and Dora are expecting their first child. When it’s time for the baby to be born, they find out that he will not have a birth certificate because they live in Italy under Mussolini’s government. This causes panic for Guido as he worries about what will happen if there is another war and he needs to flee with his family but cannot prove that he owns anything or has any rights as an Italian citizen.

Life is Beautiful Movie Review | Oye Cinema Club

1) Life is Beautiful tells the story of an Italian Jew who falls in love with his wife while he’s hiding out from Nazi soldiers during World War II, but when she becomes pregnant, he must find a way to tell her that their children will be taken away if they don’t escape soon before it’s too late;

2) Yes! It’s definitely worth seeing in theaters because there are subtitles available for those who do not speak Italian as well as English;

3) The cinematography was beautiful and made everything feel more realistic than most films;

4) Yes! I would recommend this film to everyone because it teaches us how important love is – no matter what happens, we should never give up hope;

5) “You know what else I like about my life?” “What?” “That I’m always laughing at

Here is a video review of the epic film “Life is Beautiful” by members of our Cinema Club. We hope you enjoy it!

 When WWII breaks out, Guido tells his son that the war is not a big deal and they have nothing to worry about. He tells him that the war is not going to affect them in any way and they’ll be safe. When Nazi soldiers come to take Guido away, he simply hides his son under some books so the Nazis don’t notice him and takes off with a pack on his back.

The story moves ahead ten years later when we see Guido as an old man pushing along a wire cart full of bricks at Auschwitz concentration camp. The audience then sees what happens when the father hides from the truth all those years ago; there are now about 60 prisoners living at home because Hitler was determined to destroy anything Jewish or non-Nazi related.

In the movie Life is Beautiful, a Jewish man uses humor to shield his son from the atrocities of war. The film begins in 1938 when Guido Orefice and Dora are expecting their first child. When it’s time for baby Giosuè’s birth, they find out that he will not have a birth certificate because they live in Italy under Mussolini’s government. This touching story shows how comedy can be used as an effective coping mechanism during times of terror and tragedy. If you want to watch this heartwarming tale with your family or friends on Netflix (or just need something uplifting after reading all these turbulent news stories), I recommend watching Oyé Cinema Club’s Review of the film!
