Here is a video review of the epic film “Ya No Estoy Aqui” by members of our Cinema Club. We hope you enjoy it!
What I Liked: This is one of those movies where you walk out feeling like your heart has been ripped from your chest but in a good way! The writing by Fernando Frías de la Parra was superb because he made sure to not only make us laugh at times but also cry when it came time for emotional scenes. It’s always nice finding films that are able to balance comedy and drama well without being too over the top or cheesy about things so this movie gets two thumbs up from me!
The storyline is one of those that had you hooked the entire time. What I also liked about this movie was how it captured a lot of raw emotions and feelings, much like “Perdida.” The way he handled scenes where parents are trying to find their runaway children made me want to cry so bad because some moments were very intense but ultimately left us with a big smile at the end!
I would recommend seeing this film if you’re looking for something new and different from other movies in your local theater. We have been watching more Mexican films lately since they always seem to be really good quality for such low prices compared to American films which can get pricey depending on what’s playing (also not being able to understand anything makes them hard to watch sometimes).
The movie is in Spanish so I can’t exactly tell you what the theme of it is, but from my understanding, it’s about a boy who has to take care of his mom after she’s diagnosed with cancer. It sounds like an emotional journey for him and he eventually leaves home as a result. If this sounds interesting to you or if maybe you speak Spanish fluently then go check out our review on Oyedimelo!
