Babel is a movie about the power of language and how it shapes our lives. It starts off with four different people who speak four different languages living in Morocco, Tokyo, Mexico City, and Paris. The story unfolds as we watch them interact with each other on their day-to-day activities. There are some funny moments where they can’t communicate because they don’t share the same language but there are also touching moments when one character has an emotional breakdown because he doesn’t understand what another person said to him. Babel is an eye-opening film that shows us how important yet hard it can be for people from all over the world to communicate with each other.
Babel Movie Review | Oye Cinema Club
1. The film is set in Morocco and tells the story of a deaf girl who is being sent to an institution for the deaf
2. The movie takes place over 24 hours, so it’s not a fast-paced thriller but more of a slow drama
3. It isn’t just about her journey to the institute – we also get flashbacks from scenes that happened in her life before she was born
4. One thing I really enjoyed about this film was how much time they spent showing us what life would be like for someone with hearing loss
5. There were subtitles throughout which helped me understand everything that was going on even though I didn’t know sign language myself
6. All in all, Babel is worth watching if you’re into movies with lots of dialogue and don’t mind subtitles!

Here is a video review of the epic film “Babel” by members of our Cinema Club. We hope you enjoy it!
The film is set in Morocco and tells the story of four different families. It began with a tragedy that led to flashbacks from scenes in each family’s life, giving more insight into what happened before this event occurred. One thing I really enjoyed about “Babel” was how much time they spent showing us what someone would encounter on their journey to the institute for hearing loss; we also get an understanding throughout these parts of her memories and flashbacks as she recalls things like when she first learned sign language or got fitted for cochlear implants. There were subtitles throughout which helped me understand everything going on even though it’s not something I know myself because there are no spoken words throughout the movie (save one instance). All in all, Babel is a great movie that explores the themes of love, loss, and family. I would recommend it to everyone!
Themes: Love, loss, and family
Actors: Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchette, Gael Garcia Bernal.
Rating: PG-13 (Parental Guidance Suggested) for some violence and brief strong language. I would recommend it to everyone!
